“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;
fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way,
over the man who carries out evil devices!”
(Psalm 37:7)
Today’s post will be short and sweet, as I want to allow the Psalmist to do most of the teaching. The only reading for today will be Psalm 37, but I ask that you read over it two or three times. I was reading it today as I am reading through the bible again, and I believe that this psalm will easily become one of my favorites.
David is teaching an important lesson as he pens these words. Though evils abound, God is in control and will not allow evil to come to full fruition in the day to come. There is coming a time when no sorrow shall be know. No one who works evil will be allowed and there will be no more pain. Yes, this world can be a depressing place, but fret not! For the Lord is on our side. Nothing bad can avail in the end.
I think the biggest thing to take from this Psalm is simply not to look at bad things of this life and get discouraged. “Fret not!” says the psalmist. Fret not. Look upon the good, and do not worry about the evil. All will give an account in the last day. May we all be on the victorious side. Put your hope in the Lord.
Suggested Daily Reading: Psalm 37.
The Lord’s peace to you.
