“But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you.”
(II Cor. 4:7-12)
O Lord, my God, let us be of you;
Let us dwell in completely.
You are the Almighty throughout.
We continue to bless you freely.
We are burdened here,
But you never abandone.
Teach us to believe,
and in your love stand in.
Beaten, worn and tired,
We seek your face.
Sold, tried and tested,
Grant us your grace.
When it feels as though we can’t go on,
Teach us to stand.
And when we feel our hearts wander,
Give us your hand.
We are unworthy, Lord,
As you knew so well,
Your love is unending,
that in it we dwell.
Who is man, that you look kindly on him?
We are at a loss for words.
Who am I, that I find your grace?
To escape inevitable swords.
When we fall, Lord,
Pick us up.
When we thirst, Lord,
Fill our cup.
To Thee, holy and enthroned on high,
we lift up our eyes.
We long for the shelter of your presence,
Lest we alone shall die.
Grace, Lord. Grace.
