“The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds,
there is none who does good.
The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man,
to see if there are any who understand,
who seek after God.
They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt;
there is none who does good,
not even one.”
(Psalm 14:1-3)
There is none who is righteous, no not one,
In this, I am not alone.
Though the earth was search, far and wide,
One holy man one could not find.
There are men who try, there are men who don’t,
Both outcomes are the same,
There is but one difference amongst the sheep and goats,
Immanuel they call His name.
We put on cloaks of smoke, to shield our sin,
But You see right through.
Though we run, or though we hide,
You will not be fooled.
Lord, we know we are unworthy, we know our sin,
What can we do to hide?
How can we deserve such mercy,
That we may stand you beside?
Teach me Lord, teach me to do your will,
Though wander my feet.
Turn me back, set me up, guide me forward,
Awaken my somber sleep.
There is none who is righteous, no not one,
But Lord, could you really choose me?
I might see the the sins of others, Lord,
But I know the sins of me.
Turn my head, Lord, and alert my ears,
Let me hear Your call,
Let me know, Lord, let me see,
Even when I fall.
I want to do Your will, though I often fail,
I am thankful for Your grace.
If he of Tarsus was chief of sinners,
We line up in place.
Forgive us now, Lord, though Your steadfast love,
And renew our drive.
Lift us up and let us stand before your throne,
Let us help Your will to thrive.
Thank you Lord, Thank you Lord,
Thank you ever.
Thank you Lord, Thank you Lord,
Let us go never.
